Accents was set up in 2007 by a group of parents who wanted to make sure their children continued to develop their English language skills. Their main objective was to maintain the level of English amongst the growing population of Anglophone school age children in the region. They realised that in order to continue to develop these English skills they needed to provide a fun and friendly learning environment as well as employ experienced, qualified and professional teachers - and so Accents was born.
Since then we have gone from strength to strength with many students coming to Accents for five or six years, therefore mirroring the progress they would have made in the UK education system. Over the years several of our students have returned to the UK . Their parents have told us that attending Accents has allowed the students to pick up where they left off - having developed their English language skills to the same level as their peers in the UK. Since 2017 we have also supported seven students to sit their iGCSE examination in English language and this year another three students have done the same.
Don't forget though, Accents is not just about sitting in a classroom! We arrange numerous events and extra activities for students such as World Book Day, picnics, social events and Summer English Clubs. We also host taster days, involve students in writing and literacy workshops and invite local people to come and share their stories and experiences.
You can contact us about Accents at any time but we will also be opening our doors to interested parents over the next 12 months so check our website and Facebook page for more information.
